about jae Lohr
Hi, I’m Jae Lohr—the hands, heart, and soul behind Rooted. I create small-batch, hand-crafted ceramics that are inspired by nature, simplicity, and the quiet beauty found in everyday rituals.
Working with clay has always been more than a creative outlet for me—it’s a meditative process. From the grounding feel of the earth in my hands to the rhythm of the wheel, I find a deep sense of calm and connection in each step. Every piece I make is an invitation to slow down, be present, and find meaning in the ordinary.
Rooted was born from this desire to create with intention and to share that grounding energy with others. Whether it’s a mug that starts your morning or a bowl that gathers friends around the table, my hope is that these pieces bring warmth, mindfulness, and a sense of home into your life.
In addition to creating my own work, I also teach private pottery classes at Cozy Bookwyrm. I offer intimate, two-person sessions that are fully tailored to each student’s skill level—whether you're brand new to clay or looking to fine-tune a specific technique.
Each vessel I create is by hand in Wilmington, NC, using earthy tones, organic textures, and functional designs meant to be loved and used daily.
Thanks for being here—and for supporting handmade.
Hand Painted Designs
Rooted specializes in hand painted underglaze designs on ceramic vessels. The design is hand sketched using lead on bisque fired stoneware. Each illustration is painted with a fine line paint brush three times to ensure maximum color saturation. Rooted’s hand painted collection is truly a labor of love.
Rooted embodies the act of slow art through sculpting and hand building.
You’ll find a variety of hand sculpted creations in each small batch collection. Rooted’s designs tend to have a symbolism that dances around the ideas of duality, intuition, and rebirth. Jamie feels most connected to her art when she gets to meditate with the Earth’s natural elements (in less fancy words, a ball of mud & water) and her own two hands; To be fully present, connected to her breath, and connected to the intentional creative force leaving her body.
